About Dr. Melania
Dr Melania Duca is not a psychiatrist; she does not provide diagnoses for welfare or insurance purposes, nor does she prescribe medication. Her approach is centred on enhancing quality of life and life expectancy, and on resolving symptoms wherever possible.

With almost 10,000 hours of therapy delivered over nine years of clinical practice, I bring both breadth and depth of experience to my work in mental health. My career has taken me from teaching Philosophy of Mind at a private Italian university to founding Aletes Mental Health in Northern Ireland, where I now work with clients locally and worldwide.

I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Psychiatry and am a Fellow of the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists (UK), where I have also served on the Ethics Committee and continue to provide clinical supervision to other professionals.

My specialisation is in neurodivergence and personality disorders, but my experience extends across both the broad and the niche areas of mental health. I have worked extensively with marginalised and vulnerable groups, including LGBTQ+ clients, families of individuals with Borderline/EUPD, and couples navigating Asperger’s Syndrome or OCPD. I also support clients recovering from domestic violence and narcissistic abuse, provide therapy to offenders, and prepare expert reports for court cases. Beyond this, I counsel professionals such as police officers and lawyers, helping them build resilience and prevent burnout.

I offer a structured yet personalised approach, integrating a range of therapeutic methods to meet each client’s unique needs. My treatment plans are always developed collaboratively, with clear goals and timeframes, from three-month cycles to longer-term programmes.

I am committed to innovation in therapy and regularly organise events in social therapy, which many clients describe as transformative. I also incorporate tools such as virtual reality exposure therapy and cranial electrotherapy stimulation for clients who may benefit from these techniques.

Outside of my clinical work, I have supported athletes and teams to enhance sports performance, and I also provide kink-allied counselling.

Fluent in both English and Italian, I work in person in Northern Ireland and Italy, as well as virtually with clients worldwide.

Confidentiality, respect, and client privacy remain the cornerstones of my practice.
